Pavel Kolesnikov repeats Ragged festival
Pavel Kolesnikov and Samson Tsoy are bringing back their Ragged Music Festival for a third year, from 21 to 23 May, at the Ragged School Museum in East London, with guest musicians including Lawrence Power.
Six concerts over three days include works by Bach, Britten, Beethoven, Stravinsky, Schumann and Brahms, with Power performing Shostakovich's Viola Sonata and Kolesnikov playing Bach's Goldberg Variations, and the festival closes with Mark Padmore singing Schubert's Die Winterreise with Kolesnikov at the piano. Other performers are Alina Ibragimova, John Myerscough and the Doric String Quartet.
Kolesnikov explained: 'Our programme was created to contemplate and leave behind the dismal year we all went through. We can't wait to be able to welcome live audiences and to celebrate art, human connection and the spring!'
The Arts Desk reviewed last year's concert saying, 'This not-so-mini festival has capped everything in this extraordinary year: unrepeatable in its line-up, unforgettable in the programming and its execution.'
