Founded in honour of the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra has developed into one of Japan’s foremost orchestras and continues to serve as a cultural ambassador both locally, within its own communities, and in Europe, North America and Asia, under the baton of Kazushi Ono, its Music Director.
Allan Gilbert serves as Principal Guest Conductor, Kazuhiro Koizumi as Honorary Conductor for Life and Eliahu Inbal as Conductor Laureate. The orchestra has won a Kyoto Music Award and two Japanese Record Academy Awards and is Music Ambassador of Capital Tokyo.
