‘an explosion of surprises’

‘Whether it’s a score drawn with make-up, bizarre harpsichord histrionics or household appliances masquerading as musical instruments, this annual weekend of new music is always an explosion of surprises’

The Times

Since he founded it in 2012, Ilan Volkov’s Tectonics Festival has become one of the world’s most exciting and diverse music events, dedicated to the discovery of new music, with editions taking place from Australia to Scotland.

Ilan Volkov is one of the figureheads of new music, with a passion for introducing local audiences to diverse and cutting-edge music, taking the festival to new locations around the world, working with professional ensembles and local grassroots ensembles. Tectonics introduces world premieres as well as rediscovering masterpieces, with performances often combining art forms, including installations and experimental theatre.

‘With standing room only in City Halls, there’s evidently an audience in Glasgow looking forward with them’
