UK Performances for Aleksey Semenenko
Ukrainian violinist Aleksey Semenenko continues to establish his reputation as a violinist of impeccable taste and sophistication through a series of UK appearances.
Aleksey has just completed a tour of Wales with BBC National Orchestra of Wales, performing Brahms Violin Concerto with conductor Clemens Schuldt in Aberystwyth, Bangor and Llandudno. You can hear the Bangor concert recording of Brahms Violin Concerto with BBC NOW on 6 December on BBC Radio 3.
In November and December, Aleksey will also be returning to BBC Maida Vale Studios to record for BBC Radio 3. A varied selection of chamber works will be featured, including Franck Violin Sonata in A; Beethoven Sonata No. 4 for Violin and Piano, Op. 23; Bertrand Sonata for Violin and Cello, Op. 8; Ysaÿe Poeme No. 2 “Au Rouet”, Op. 13; Debussy Sonata for Violin and Piano; and Elgar La Capricieuse, Op.17. The Franck can be caught on Radio 3 on 27th December at 17:00, along with Wagner's Romanza.
The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra have re-invited Aleksey for two upcoming programmes. The first is a live studio concert, featuring Shostakovich’s emotionally tumultuous Violin Concerto No. 1 with conductor Omer Meir Wellber. Don’t forget to tune in for the live broadcast at 13:55 on 11 December on BBC Radio 3! The second is a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in King George’s Hall, Blackburn with conductor Holly Mathieson at 19:30 on 10 January 2020.
