Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra - 50th Anniversary Tour

The Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and Music Direct, Kazushi Ono have arrived in Stockholm for the start of their 50th Anniversary Tour of Europe. Celebrating its anniversary and in support of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the orchestra and Ono visit Stockholm (13 Nov), Amsterdam (16), Luxembourg (17), Berlin (19) and Essen (21) and completes the tour in Vienna (23).

\The tour features the European premieres (in Luxembourg and Berlin) of Toshio Hosokawa's Nach dem Sturm, inspired by the Tohoku Earthquake in 2011 and dedicated to Ono and the orchestra, with soprano soloists Susanne Elmark and Ilse Eerens. Programmes include Prokofiev: Violin Concerto no.2, with Vadim Repin, Ravel: Piano Concerto with Steven Osborne, Tchaikovsky: Symphony No 4, Ravel: Rapsodie espagnole and Debussy's scintillating La Mer.
