Stefan Solyom steps in at short notice to conduct the BBC Symphony Orchestra

Stefan Solyom steps in at short notice to conduct the BBC Symphony Orchestra for a special programme of works by female composers. The performance takes place at 14:30 on 31st January at BBC Maida Vale Studios and will also be recorded for broadcast on 8th March (International Women’s Day) for BBC Radio 3.

The concert includes the following works:

Elisabetta Brusa: Firelights

Germaine Tailleferre: Ballade for Piano and Orchestra

Victoria Borisova-Ollas: The Kingdom of Silence

Judith Weir: Heroic Strokes of the Bow

This programme, as well as being a celebration of women in music, features two UK premieres- Firelights and The Kingdom of Silence.
