Paul Lewis opens the Wigmore Hall season on 1 September with a recital of Mendelssohn, Mozart, Mussorgsky and Scriabin. The hall will be at 70 per cent capacity as a precaution, and the concert is sold out.

He said: ‘Wigmore Hall has been my musical home in London for so long, and it’s such a great thrill and honour to open the 21/22 season. Even with a slightly reduced audience capacity, the unique Wigmore atmosphere and energy is something I know will be as strong as ever, which I’m very much looking forward to feeling it again.’

His second volume of Haydn Piano Sonatas will be released by Harmonia Mundi on 10 September, including Sonatas Nos.20, 34, 51 and 52.
