Patrick Kinmonth designed costumes for the famous New Year's Day celebrations in Vienna this year. The Vienna Philharmonic was conducted by Riccardo Muti and the broadcast featured two ballets choreographed by Cathy Marston, Director of Zurich Ballet, with whom Kinmonth collaborates frequently.

2025 marks the 200th anniversaries of both the birth of Johann Strauss II and the opening of the first public railway line, between Stockton and Darlington, in England. To commemorate these events, members of the Wiener Staatsballett danced to Strauss's Entweder-Oder! Polka next to the 12.10 steam locomotive at the Vienna Museum of Science and Technology, and to the Accelerationen Waltz, in the halls of the historic Südbahnhotel, set along the Semmering railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The concert was broadcast worldwide by ORF and the recordings will be released on DVD and Bluray on 24 January.

Kinmonth and Marston next work together in Mrs Robinson for Zurich Ballet, with Kinmonth designing sets and costumes, and the production conducted by Robert Houssart, opening 10 May.
