Laurent Pelly, Opera News Honoree 2019

Laurent Pelly has been announced as one of The Metropolitan Opera Guild's Opera News honorees for 2018-19 in recognition of his achievement in opera. Described as "faultlessly musical, visually stimulating and entirely singular", recent work in the US includes new productions of Candide at the Santa Fe Opera and Lucia di Lammermoor at Opera Philadelphia, as well as Cendrillon at the Metropolitan Opera and Chicago Lyric Opera and Manon and La Fille du régiment in New York.

Opera News editor-in-chief F. Paul Driscol said “These five artists have transformed the way audiences experience opera and have left an everlasting impact on this essential and ever-evolving art form.”

The Awards will be presented on Sunday 7 April 2019 at the Plaza Hotel, New York.
