Irina Brook opens the season with Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream
Irina Brook will open the final season of Dominique Meyer's tenure at the Wiener Staatsoper with a new production of Benjamin Britten's adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream; the piece returns to the house after an absence of more than half a century. Featuring an all star cast of Lawrence Zazzo, Erin Morley, Rachel Frenkel, Szilvia Vörös, Josh Lovell, Peter Rose and Valentina Nafornita, the opera also features actor, musician, dancer, acrobat and circus artist Théo Touvet as Puck. The production conducted by Simone Young will have its premiere on 2 October (Livestreaming on Wiener Staatsoper Live), further performances are on 5, 9, 13, 17 and 21 October. Brook's much loved Don Pasquale returns to the Wiener Staatsoper again this season with performances on 30 October, 3 November, 13 and 16 May.
