Hartmut Haenchen returns to the Bayreuther Festspiele

Following last year's much reported substitution, Hartmut Haenchen returns to the Bayreuther Festspiele to conduct a special 'Festakt' to celebrate 100 years since the birth of Wieland Wagner. The concert will feature Camilla Nylund, Claudia Mahnke, Christa Mayer and Stephen Gould who will present musical excerpts from Wieland Wagner's most famous productions, including Rienzi, Parsifal, Otello and Wozzeck. To further mark the occasion, Sir Peter Jonas will speak from the stage of the legendary Festspielhaus. The Festakt will take place on 24 July, preceding the festival season. Hartmut Haenchen will also conduct five performances of Parsifal during the season proper, running from 27 July until 25 August.    

The widely celebrated 2016 performances of Parsifal will be available to purchase on Blu-Ray and DVD from 21 July.
