George Jackson makes his debut at Aspen
George Jackson has conducted the Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra on Wednesday 27 July. The programme includes Elgar’s popular and moving Enigma Variations, so called because of its mystery theme, and dedicated “to my friends pictured within”. In the first part, Prokofiev's ethereal Violin Concerto no1 with soloist Adele Anthony followed an exciting new work by composer Weijun Chen, winner of the 2015 Jacob Druckman prize, as a concert opener.
George is this year's Assistant Conductor in Aspen, having been awarded the Robert J. Harth Conducting Prize and the David A. Karetsky Memorial Fellowship in previous years.
