The LSO Panufnik Composers Scheme is an exciting initiative offering six emerging composers each year the opportunity to write for a world-class symphony orchestra. Devised by the Orchestra in association with Lady Panufnik in memory of her late husband, the composer Sir Andrzej Panufnik, and generously supported by the Helen Hamlyn Trust.

The scheme enables composers to experiment over time and develop their orchestral writing skills. Composers form collaborative musical relationships with LSO players as well as having their compositions put under the microscope by the LSO and François-Xavier Roth in a public workshop rehearsal.

March sees the release of Panufnik Legacies II, this second CD release showcases the works of selected composers from across the first ten years of the Scheme alongside Panufnik Variations, a project that brings together Colin Matthews and Panufnik Scheme graduates.

This year's Panufnik workshops take place alongside François-Xavier Roth's two LSO Futures concerts at the Barbican and LSO St Luke's on 13 March.
