François-Xavier Roth appointed LSO Principal Guest Conductor

The London Symphony Orchestra today announces the appointment of François-Xavier Roth as Principal Guest Conductor from the start of the 2017-18 season. Read the full announcement here

This announcement precedes two appearances at the Barbican on 30 March and 23 April, and a tour of Austria, continuing their two-year series, After Romanticism, exploring the sea-change in music that took place at the turn of the 20th Century. The April concert will be streamed live on the LSO Live YouTube Channel and medici.tv and subsequently available to watch on demand.

His partnership with the orchestra, which started in 2000 when he won the Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition, has been a key feature of his international guest appearances. He has also been closely involved with the Panufnik Composers Scheme, which has placed him at the heart of the LSO’s development of new music (he conducts this year's workshops at LSO St Luke's on 20 April).
