Critical acclaim for Hänsel und Gretel in Madrid
A revival of Humperdinck's charming opera Hänsel und Gretel opened at the Teatro Real in Madrid on 20 January and has attracted great reviews on the Spanish press. Created originally in 2008 for Glyndebourne Festival Opera by Laurent Pelly, with set designs by Barbara de Limburg, the production has been described as "original and convincing" with an equally impressive cast. More performances are scheduled until 7 February 2015.
