Aleksey Semenenko will take part in a Vialma broadcast on 12 April to raise money for Ukrainian children through the charity War Child. He recorded the concert with pianist Antonii Baryshevskyi recently in a school in Lviv. During the broadcast, the musicians will answer questions online.

Ukrainian-born Semenenko was in the country following a performance in Kyiv the night before the Russian invasion and was initially unable to leave the country, but is now back in Germany, where he has lived for the last ten years and is professor of violin at Folkwang Universität der Künste.

Later in the month, Semenenko takes part in a tour of Germany with the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, which will perform of works by Ukrainian composers including Maxim Berezovsky, Myroslav Skoryk and Borys Lyatoschynskii, culminating in a concert at Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie on 1 May.

Watch the War Child fundraiser at 7pm GMT on Facebook or sign up to Vialma's feed.

Listen to Semenenko talk to Sean Rafferty on BBC Radio 3's In Tune programme.
