Elijah Moshinsky makes his debut at Buxton Festival Opera

Directing Verdi's Giovanna d'Arco, Elijah Moshinsky will make his debut at Buxton Festival Opera. This production will elongate Elijah's present love affair with Verdi, following his heralded production of Don Carlo at Opera Australia and preceding his new production of Simon Boccanegra; soon to be at the National Centre of Performing Arts, Beijing.

Verdi's interpretation of the story of Joan of Arc features a central role of delicate ornamentation and powerful ensemble work, displaying the composer's desire to experiment with formal vehicles through which his drama could be presented.

Performances at Buxton Opera House are on July 11, 14, 17, 21 and 24.
