The Glass Menagerie starring Sally Field opens on Broadway
A new revival of Tennessee Williams' celebrated drama, The Glass Menagerie, premiered on Thursday, 9 March at Broadway's Belasco Theatre starring Academy Award winner Sally Field and brilliant costumes designed by Wojciech Dziedzic. The "modern and minimalist" production by Tony Award-winning director, Sam Gold, which he first directed with Toneelgroep Amsterdam, brings the same creative team with him for this compelling play featuring a distorted spare set, a gaping wound of blackness, carefully controlled by Wojciech's ratio of drab gray to blossoming color.
This memory play set in 1937 St Louis is told from the perspective of a troubled man, Tom Wingfield (Joe Mantello), and how his actions destroyed the fledgling confidence of his younger sister Laura (Madison Ferris) while exploring the themes of depression, thwarted love and disability.
Performances will continue until July, 2017. Click here for more information and tickets.
