Jean-Jacques DelmotteDesigner (Costumes)
After studying architecture at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and fashion at La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, Jean-Jacques Delmotte began his career designing costumes for theatre and contemporary dance companies in France.
In 2000 he worked with director Laurent Pelly for the first time, marking the beginning of an ongoing close collaboration. Their most recent work together includes Offenbach’s Barbe bleue for l’Opéra de Lyon, Falstaff at the Teatro Real Madrid (co-production with La Monnaie/de Munt and Nikikai Opera Foundation Tokyo) and Candide at the Santa Fe Opera. Their work rogether this season includes new productions of La Cenerentola for Dutch National Opera and the Grand Théâtre de Génève, as well as numerous revivals including Le Roi Carotte (L’opéra de Lyon in Oman), Barbe bleue in Marseille and Il barbiere di Siviglia in Tours.
Jean-Jacques also enjoys collaborations with other directors. This season sees costume design for Giovanna d’Arco in Stadttheater Biel and qt L'Opéra Tours directed by Yves Lenoir, with whom he also created Jenůfa in Dijon in 2018.
